OUR STORY
My name is Ayanna, and I am the owner and co-founder of Argan By Jamilla. I would love to share my story with you! In December of 2018, some friends and I went on an epic adventure throughout Spain. From the southern city of Tarifa, we took a ferry to Tangiers, Morocco. From there we made our way through this majestic country experiencing new sounds, smells, and all forms of art.
Our last stop in Morocco was the bohemian beach town of Essaouira. Known for its art and music scene and for hosting a myriad of artists such as Jamaican-American poet, Claude McKay, Jimi Hendrix and the Rolling Stones. This is also where my heart found its home, in the hands of my now husband, Karim.
As I ventured through the Medina, I found the hands of centuries worth of wisdom grinding down what seemed to be small beans. What I discovered was a co-op of women who were making Argan oil based on centuries-old methods. My mind was blown away! As I shopped trying to purchase as many bottles of pure Argan oil as possible, I thought about how I could support the women entrepreneurs of Morocco and provide 100% organic products to friends and family.
From there, Argan By Jamilla was born. We are a consciously sourced company that provides all-natural, purely organic Moroccan Argan oil. As we navigate this realm of entrepreneurship, our mission is to educate the world about the benefits of Argan oil; share our love of Moroccan culture; and continue to uplift and support our sisters in Morocco.
